Boat Captain / Quartermaster Job in Lagos, Nigeria

HRD Solutions Ltd is recruiting an experienced Boat Captain / Quartermaster for a leading maritime organisation in Lagos.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe navigation, operation and general management of vessels, while ensuring compliance with maritime safety procedures and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and navigate assigned vessels.
• Manage vessel departure, arrival, mooring and anchoring operations.
• Ensure the safety of passengers, crew, cargo and equipment.
• Conduct routine checks of navigation and communication equipment.
• Supervise deck activities and coordinate crew members.
• Maintain accurate vessel logs and operational records.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and changing weather conditions.
• Ensure compliance with company and maritime safety procedures.
• Report vessel defects, incidents and maintenance requirements.
• Support routine vessel maintenance and housekeeping.

Requirements

• Relevant maritime certification/licence as required for the vessel.
• Proven experience as a Boat Captain, Quartermaster, Coxswain or similar maritime role.
• Good knowledge of vessel navigation, mooring and deck operations.
• Strong understanding of maritime safety procedures.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.
• Valid STCW certification and other relevant maritime certificates will be an advantage.
